Telluride Ski Resort boasts uncrowded slopes and exceptional terrain for all levels and abilities. Ari says beginners can enjoy stunning views from top to bottom while cruising down green runs or hiking the backcountry trails.

Apex

The Apex single black offers stunning views and even better vibes. You can easily access this run from the top of the Apex Lift. You’ll feel like you’re one with the clouds at the top of this run!

Polar Queen Express

If you’ve been shredding all day and you’re ready for an aprés break, make your way to the Polar Queen Express. At the top of this scenic chairlift ride sits Bon Vivant, a restaurant serving up good aprés treats and even better views! The runs down from this lift are mellow groomers and perfect for end-of-the-day tired legs.

Where To Stay

Madeline Hotel

The Madeline Hotel is located in Mountain Village, and sits practically at the base of the lift, offering a prime location during the winter months. Take advantage of the ski valet which is ultra-convenient for storing your skis after a day on the slopes. Next, we highly recommend resting your legs and taking a dip in the outdoor hot tub or enjoying a cocktail and a game of pool in the cozy M Club.This Telluride stay is on the expensive side but oh-so-worth-it.

New Sheridan Hotel

The historic New Sheridan Hotel located in downtown Telluride was built in 1895 and has been fully renovated. This piece of history offers a comfy, cozy stay at a reasonable price. When you’re not spending some R&R time in your room, you can grab a drink at the amazing rooftop bar that overlooks the village.

Bon Vivant

A mountain-top restaurant so good we had to mention it twice! Bon Vivant sits at the top of the Polar Queen Express. With a menu chock-full of delicious food and drink, this is the perfect place to stop mid ski day! Ari orders the Polar Queen Cafe (an Irish coffee-like cocktail). Ummm ya, we’ll have what she’s having!

Aplino Vino

Fun fact! Alpino Vino is the highest elevation restaurant in North America which also means the views are stunning! Getting to Alpino Vino is just as fun as aprés(ing) there. A heated snowcat drops you off at the doors of this restaurant. Pro Tip #1: get a reservation because they are always busy! Pro Tip #2: order the Aperol Sprtiz!

When it’s time to take a break from carving turns, Telluride serves up a wide array of frosty fun from nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and shopping up and down the main street.

Custom Hats

Nothing says mountain fashion like a custom-made hat! Rustler Supply in downtown Telluride sells unique clothes, leather goods, and custom hats. Customers can adorn their favorite hat with their initials and a custom-designed feather band!

Horseback Riding

Swapping out the “yahoos” for “yeehaw's” with this non-skiing activity! Telluride Horseback Adventures is Telluride’s most experienced and established horseback outfitter. Local cowboy, “Roudy Roudebush” has been taking people on trail rides for over 40 years. And yes– you can ride horses in the Winter!

It’s easy to work up quite an appetite here, and whether you’re looking for a fresh pizza, foie gras, or free-range steak, Telluride’s got something for all pallets. Here’s where Ari is dining when she’s away in the mountains.

Little House

Ari recommends grabbing lunch at Little House.This cafe has a great local vibe, is very cozy, and serves up a turkey sandwich that is practically to die for.

221 South Oak

For dinner, 221 South Oak is the place to be! This cottage-like restaurant is super cozy and super delicious. Ari’s go-to is the Mushroom Ravioli off of their vegetarian menu! Yes– they have a full vegetarian menu. And yes– we’re obsessed.

In Ari’s book, there’s only one resort that checks every box. For her, and many others, it’s Telluride. Telluride is a bit of a hike from Denver, but oh is it worth it. If you’re not up for the 6-hour drive from Denver, we highly encourage you to look into flights. Telluride will leave you with a camera roll full of memories and a yearning to cancel your trip back home!
